The Xtra Touch Process:
The following procedures are based on the Xtra Touch Standard and Reference Guide for Professional Carpet Cleaning.
Step 1: Inspect
We begin by inspecting carpet installation, seams, baseboards, furniture stains, pet stains, food and coffee stains, traffic patterns and problem areas.
Step 2: Remove Dry Soil
We vacuum the carpet to remove dry soil before it is mixed with cleaning solutions. Removing dry soil is one of the most important steps in cleaning.
Step 3: Move Furniture
Our regular price includes moving sofas, chairs, tables and smaller items. Desks, file cabinets, and heavier furniture is left in place (computers and wiring are not moved).
Step 4: Treat Spots
We determine which spots will need extra attention prior to cleaning and then we go to work with our spotting kit.
Step 5: Prespray
We apply a high-quality cleaning solution prespray to the carpet, which consists of natural citrus-peel extracts, grapefruit-seed extract, cold-pressed Valencia orange, and soy. For traffic areas with heavy soils, especially if grease is present, a different cleaning solution may be used. The prespray softens and loosens the soil for a faster, more thorough cleaning. To loosen the soil further, we physically agitate the carpet prior to cleaning. For heavily soiled areas, we use a booster to enhance the cleaning action.
Step 6: Extract
The rinse cycle is used to wash the dirt away that was loosened in the preconditioning phase. A water softener is also used which makes the cleaning process more efficient.
Step 7 And 8: Clean and Neutralize
To limit wicking, we apply a postspray over the entire carpet. A special cleaning solution is used to neutralize any residual prespray or emulsifier from the final rinse stage.
Our double cleaning system enables Xtra Touch to leave our clients with better results and better looking carpet.
Step 9: Deodorize
Xtra Touch uses a neutral, anti-allergen deodorization system included in our cleaning process.
Step 10: Protect Furniture
We use foam blocks and foil paper to protect your furniture and carpet from permanent wood and plant stains.
Step 11: Apply Topical Treatment (Carpet Protector)
We apply a specialty topical treatment, made especially for your type of carpet.
Step 12: Set Pile and Dry Carpet
We groom your carpet to leave you with a new look. We take extra steps to dry the carpet quickly, such as extra vacuum-only stokes, ceiling fans and/or HVCA, and the use of air movers when possible.
Note: This process speeds up the drying by absorbing additional moisture and is used only on a short-pile carpet or Berber. It is especially effective on olefin carpets.
